One of the most popular ways to wash a newborn baby is in a special baby bath tub. This is something that is much smaller than adult bath and it will allow you to bathe your baby in any room. This can be particularly useful if your bathroom is quite cold and you don’t want to take your baby into it.

One concern that parents have about buying a baby bath is that their child will soon outgrow it but there is a market for these items second-hand so once you are finished with it it is possible to sell it on.

Another popular option for washing a baby is using a bucket bath. This is an upright shaped bucket that your baby will sit in and the water will come up to the shoulders. An advantage of this type is that it takes up less space and requires less hot water but they can generally only be used for babies who are up to 6-month-old, so again parents might be concerned about the expense.

Once your baby is a few months older, support seats for use in an adult bath can be a good option. These can make using the adult bath easier and safer for your baby and they can also be easily transported if you are going somewhere else.

Of course, the most traditional way of washing your baby is in a sink, but this runs the risk that your baby could hurt their head on the side of the sink or that the water being run onto them might vary in temperature suddenly.

There is no reason for bath time to be too over-stimulating, however, and if parents do things right it can even be used as an opportunity to calm youngsters ahead of putting them down for the night.

Adults aren’t the only ones who enjoy having a bath with soft music and candles creating a soothing atmosphere; keep a CD of lullabies handy in the bathroom and have them on with the volume low to keep the noise level as low as possible and to try and encourage children to at least start feeling sleepy.

Scented bubble bath can also help to make kids ready for bed, though be careful if the little ones have eczema or any allergies. They don’t have to go without bubble bath, but make sure you shop around for organic or hypo-allergenic brands so they don’t spend the night uncomfortable and itchy.

Toys and books can encourage children to get into the bath in the first place; even the most determined water hater can have their mind changed by a fun bath time game. Have a good selection on hand so that there are always other options if children suddenly get bored of a toy that used to be their favourite.

Bath books are not just another fun water toy, but are also a great way to save yourself some precious minutes at bedtime; after all, if you can combine bath time and story time, then the little one will be tucked up in bed even sooner, and Mum and Dad can finally have the evening to themselves.

Some children love the bath so much it can be hard work getting them out; learn what incentives will get them out of the tub quicker, such as the promise of a bedtime story, a favourite teddy bear or even a last-minute snack. Invest in some cosy bath towels with hoods and snuggle up with your youngsters before putting them into bed – and soon everyone will learn to love bath time instead of dreading it.

One great way to check both of these requirements off the list is to invest in baby sleeping bags. Baby sleeping bags are a safe bedding option that is available in many different formats. They tend to range in sizes that fit infants up to 36 month old babies with different tog ratings between 0.5 tog and 2.5 tog.

The 2.5 is the best one for year round use and will ideally keep a child warm when the temp measures between 10-20 C.  The 1.0 tog is the best one for summer months as the temps tend to get a bit higher and the 0.5 tog is the right choice for extreme heat when it occurs.

The best part about baby sleeping bags is that if you choose to use the 2.5 tog option you can just dress the baby to match the weather. For example, during warm months a baby grow may be all that is needed while in colder temperatures you may want to dress the child in a thicker sleepsuit in order to increase their natural temps and adjust to the differences in the weather.

The best way to regulate your child’s temperature is to feel their chest for warmth as their hands will almost always be cold regardless of their actual temperature.

Taking the car seat is it something that you must do even if you are taking a flight to your destination. It is usually possible to check it in with the airlines for no cost. Clothing is something that most parents will certainly not forget to pack and it is important to remember about the climate you are travelling to. While you might be wearing shorts because it’s hot the chances are your baby will require long sleeved clothes because these help to protect t heir skin from the sun.

On the other hand, if you are travelling to a cold climate make sure that you have plenty of clothing to keep your baby warm. It is also important to make considerations about laundry facilities. If you know there is going to be a place to wash your babies clothes then take half as many as you might if there was not.

Toys are another consideration you should make, but if your baby is very young you will probably not need to bring the normal toys with you as you will be able to find something for them to play with at the destination. If your child is a little older the chances are they will have a couple of favourite toys, take the smallest one of these for them to play with while you are on holiday.

It is also important to make food considerations and if your baby is feeding on formula then remember to pack enough bottles to keep them satisfied. Remember that airlines restrict the amount of fluid you can have in your hand luggage so limit the amount of bottles of milk that you have with you and put them into clear plastic bags.

It can also be a good idea to pack enough of your baby’s favourite snacks and foods so that if you can’t find their regular food when you are away you’ll have plenty to keep you going. The great thing about taking food is that once it is used up you have plenty of space in your luggage for bringing back souvenirs for friends.

What is tricky is that upper respiratory infections often have the same symptoms although the mucus in the nose will slowly turn green or yellow and the rest of the symptoms will be accompanies by fatigue and headache. If a child is found to have a bacterial sinus infection than most of the time he or she will be given antibiotics that have been found useful for treating sinus infections, with the treatment course dependent on the age, size, and period of the sinus congestion.

It is important to realise that not all sinus infections need treatment with antibiotics and sometimes it is up to the parent to question if a child really needs a course of treatment, or if it would be better simply to let their own immune system battle the infection.
