Hugh Grant has recently become a father and is facing a fine after he failed to register his newly born son within the 42 day limit. The actor has had the child with his former girlfriend, Tonglan Hong, a Chinese actress.

It has just recently passed the 45 day mark since the child was born and the registry office has confirmed that neither of the parents have come to register the child and have not yet made an appointment to do so.

While technically a law, it is very unlikely that Grant will actually be fined. A member of staff from the registry office joked, “it’s hardly as if were going to call the police to chase them. It’s not uncommon that parents to take a long time registering their child and we have seen cases where it has been three months until they have done so. There are plenty of reasons why people take their time registering, but all do come in eventually.”

After a three-month period, the liability passes to the registrar and then a fine of up to £200 in can be imposed. There is currently no information as to whether Ms Hong or Hugh Grant have been in contact with the registry office.

It would appear that there are two reasons for this development, but one is more compelling than the other. Scientific research into the effects of sunlight on the human body, specifically the eyes, has led to the first reason, which is the damage UV light can cause.

Until recently, medical professionals have not recommended sunglasses for very young children, since the options available were usually inferior in terms of their ability to block light in the UV spectrum.

With tinted lenses, enough light is blocked to make the iris open wider to compensate, so more of the potentially damaging UV rays get through if the sunglasses don’t have the capacity to block them also.

The Royal College of Ophthalmologists has stated that lenses need to block UV light with wavelengths up to 400mm, which translates to the UV400 industry standard. A large proportion of ‘cheap’ sunglasses don’t meet that standard, so voila, we have not-so-cheap shades from well-known fashion designers such as Gucci, Ray-Ban, Calvin Klein, and now Disney and Marvel Comics, OP and Nike and a whole bunch of other brand names that appeal to kids have joined the line-up.

In 2006 a British eye surgeon named Dr. Julie Diem Le founded Zoobug, a company dedicated to providing safe, comfortable eye wear for youngsters. Her first line for children 3 to 5 years of age won international awards from the optical industry. The company is the first of its kind in the UK, and Dr. Le says that sales have doubled every year for the last three years, partially because kids can choose sunglasses just as fashionable as the ones their parents wear.

The trend is certainly not confined to the UK, in fact it’s been ongoing in the U.S. for years, especially in sunny Southern California. In Hollywood nearly every kid born to a celebrity is wearing designer shades before they get past the crawling stage. Not surprising really, since their parents are making fashion statements with their own, and don’t mind paying ₤125 for the kid to make one too.

Zoobug sunglasses, incidentally, are priced from around ₤18.

According to Larry Benjamin of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, very young children should not be exposed to strong sunlight for any extended period, but he said they are generally at less risk since they don’t tend to engage in outdoor activities the way adults do. However, they should be protected with from UV rays if they are exposed, or risk painful inflammation, even temporary blindness.

If you want your kids’ eyes protected with style, the options are many and growing rapidly. An Australian brand called Baby Banz incorporates an elastic strap rather than earpieces, and Suneez shades just stick to a baby’s temples. Lots of other brands are available, and they come in every imaginable shape, size, colour and motif. Just make sure they also offer UV400 protection.

The club is that of single mothers and singer for Jamelia, who has two daughters by two different fathers, it is something she describes as being, “not very proud of.”

Her first child was with her first love and even when the situation turned violent domestically she found it hard to leave. When the child was born she found the strength to leave the abusive father. The relationship with the second father just broke down, fortunately without violence.

“I love both my children, but I also feel constantly judged for not having their fathers in the picture. I was raised by only my mother and my dream was to have the perfect family, unfortunately though, our dreams don’t always work out,” says the singer.

You don’t have to look too far into the past to see a time where single mothers were outcast from society. Often social pressure would force them to give up their children. Today, while the social pressure has subsided somewhat, it is still present and felt by today’s single mothers.

Michael Lamb is a professor based at Cambridge University and has spent much of his career studying the effects on a child of being raised by a single mother. He has said on the issue, “most single mothers do as good a job as mothers with a partner.”

During the 20th century, being a single mother became more common as many women lost their husbands in the wars. There was still a significant stigma on those who were not married and had children however. By the 1960′s, 5% of mothers were raising a child alone.

Despite the 1960′s having a reputation for the sexual liberation of society there were problems for women. Birth control options were few and abortion was illegal until late in the decade, the contraceptive pill could only be prescribed to married women. Lack of sexual education in schools aggravated the problem.

Padmini Staple was one of those who fell pregnant in the mid 1960′s. She was unmarried and lost her job because of her status as a single mother. Her parents abandoned her at a mother and baby home where she spent her pregnancy before giving birth months later. “I didn’t want to give up my baby, but I had to,” said Ms Staple, “I later had a wonderful son and tracked down my daughter after over thirty years.”

In the 1990′s there were over a million single mothers in the UK and Julia Hartley-Brewer, a journalist, has been critical of the media’s portrayal of single mothers. She says that being a single mother is unfortunate but is not “a bad choice.” Single mothers are often portrayed as sponging off the state in the media. Jamelia has said, “Media stereotypes are the reason for the stigma that single mothers face.”

The day before her 37th birthday in February of 2009, Anna was told that she had a bone marrow disease called myelofibrosis, which inhibits the body’s ability to produce red blood cells, and is almost always fatal. The doctors had to tell her that most likely she had a maximum of five years to live. The only treatment available was steroids to boost her blood count, or a bone marrow transfusion that was unlikely to work even if it were possible.

Two months after the diagnosis, Anna discovered she was pregnant. Doctors warned that giving birth might kill her, but she decided to go ahead with the pregnancy. In November 2009, Anna gave birth to a healthy 6lb 2oz boy, Jason. There were no complications and the fatal bleeding doctors had feared didn’t materialize.

And now the miracle: Anna went back for a checkup one year from the time of diagnosis, and the disease had disappeared. Her bone marrow samples were sent to 25 different labs for confirmation, and they all came back showing no sign of myelofibrosis. Anna just says, “My baby healed me.”

For the record, it is known that the male hormone androgen is produced during pregnancy, and some studies show that it reduces symptoms of bone marrow disease. It has never before been reported to effect a cure.

Myleene and baby Hero are fine and the entire family are very proud and happy about the new arrival and other congratulations have come in from X Factor winner Alexander Burke who commented on Twitter saying he was happy for her and her husband and congratulations.

Myleene, who also has a three year old daughter, has often talked about having a large family and her daughter said she missed her other sisters and when her mom asked how many she had or wanted, Ava replied two and Myleene admitted she would love to give her seven sisters saying though it would be hard to love anyone more than she loves Ava.

Magazines which promote 'skinny as healthy' have a severe impact on women's self confidence, especially when they are new mothers. Now, with 'airbrushing' in photo edit programs easily accessible for any publisher, there is a false idea of what models and celebrities really look like. It is really quite upsetting, one mother revealed, to see celebrities like Denise van Outen looking trim and slender a mere two weeks after her delivery, while I still struggle with being fat and dumpy, one mother intoned.

Other celebrities who seem to have set off the ire of pregnant mothers are Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, and Katie Holmes. It should be remembered, said pregnancy advocates that these women are photographed to put the best image forward and it could easily be true that in reality they have not recovered as quickly and fully as magazine shots might depict.

They also have the money to have daily trainers and food nutritionists on s scale the average contemporary woman cannot afford. Therefore, you are probably doing yourself a grave injustice when making a comparison with these super affluent, specially privileged examples.

If you believe that you are not losing your pregnancy weight quickly enough or in the right proportions, the best idea is to consult with your doctor. Your doctor will base your personal progress against the progress of your peers and not some super-entitled mom who has every imaginable expert at her beck and call. Really, why would you want to compare yourself to results that might be inflated for publicity sake?

If you are having a specific difficulty with losing bay weight, your doctor is best equipped to suggest diet and exercise that will be beneficial and have a long lasting outcome. Your desire should be to get in shape and become healthy, not to become some sort of pin up model for millions.

Dannii is most known by her sister Kylie Minogue, a cultural phenomenon since her first Grammy award winning pop song 'Love at First Sight'. Kyle has most recently been seen in the provocative video for luxury lingerie label Agent Provocateur. Dannii, however has always been centered around smaller projects and family. She has just returned from maternity leave in Australia, where she gave birth to a son, Ethan, with boyfriend Kris Smith.

Sources close to the singer, fashion model and ‘X Factor’ judge say that Dannii is worried she’ll compare unfavourably with ultra-trim Cheryl Cole, and she’s dieting religiously to get back to her pre-baby shape. Dannii had her baby on July 5 and she’s going back into the spotlight October 9 for what might be her final season with the immensely popular show.

Whether Dannii can lose any extra poundage before the big night is probably not as important as how all those millions of fans see her, and most of them are waiting breathlessly for her reappearance on the panel. The show is known for glam women and way up front style, and Dannii has been one of its biggest draws.

In order to celebrate the Queen’s 84th birthday photos from her developing years have been released. The images show Princess Elizabeth at age seven months posing for Marcus Adams in 1926.

A selection of the prints can be viewed from this Saturday on through February of 2011 at Windsor Castle. The Queen will be in the castle for her birthday and to the Troop Royal Horse Artillery who will offer a 41 gun salute in her honour in London.

The photographs show the Queen in a white dress barefoot and in separate frames with her parents the then Duke and Duchess of York and later George VI and now Queen Elizabeth on December 2nd of 1926.

The Queen Mother considered two of the photos that will be in the exhibit to be her prize possessions and until now were kept safely in a leather picture case. One of them shows her looking straight into the camera while in the other photo she is in the arms of her mother.

Another set of photos from January 1927 will also be on display, in which she was caught playing with Victorian glasses and holding photos of her parents in another one.

A note written by the young princess’s nurse who took care of the Queen while her parents were away on a tour will also be on display at the exhibition. The letter sits beside a photo of the young Queen with a large smile on her face laughing.

Dannii Minogue’s role as one of three judges on the popular TV show X Factor is apparently still in question at this time, but the latest word is that Simon Cowell has given her two weeks to assure him that her pregnancy and the birth of her first baby in July will not undermine her performance on the show.

Simon’s fears, according to various sources, are that Dannii will not be able to cope with the hectic schedule at X Factor while occupied with a new baby. She is currently in Australia, where she intends to remain for the birth, so she will have to miss the live auditions for the show that will be taking place in June.

Cowell definitely doesn’t want to face the kind of uproar that followed the sacking of Denise Van Outen from ‘Over the Rainbow’, and he is certainly aware of the outrage from Dannii’s fans if she is removed from the show.

He may opt to keep her on in a lesser role such as mentor, or try to find stand-in judges until she is able to continue in that capacity. The other option is to replace her with a new judge; his spokesman says that nothing has been decided.

From Dannii, the word is that she wants to continue as a judge on the live shows but the decision rests with Cowell and the producers of X Factor. Her popularity with audiences is such that fans are rallying round to support her return, some even threatening that they will simply stop watching the show if she’s not on it.

David Cameron, the Conservative leader, stated that he is quite excited to become a father again this September, which is the month that his wife Samantha is due. The Cameron’s already have two children but their child Ivan passed away last year.

Cameron admitted that the timing is not ideal given that the election is looming, but that they are overjoyed to have another child after Ivan died. Ivan passed away in February 2009 from complications associated with his epilepsy and cerebral palsy. The couple’s other two children, Nancy and Arthur, are six and four respectively.

The conservative leader also took the time to thank reporters who had sent him text messages congratulating him on Sam’s pregnancy and referenced the cute word plays that have been popping up in many headlines such as ‘Sam’s having a babycam.’

He stated that he had no idea that so many words could be rhymed with SamCam.

After her pregnancy was announced, Mrs. Cameron returned home to the waiting media and told them that she was delighted, as one would think. She is the creative director of Smythson, the luxury stationers, and spoke live on television for the first time at the beginning of March.

In the televised interview she spoke warmly about her husband and her family’s home life. She also stated that she was ready to get her husband ready to compete in the general election campaign.
